At Easter we look beyond the cross on Good Friday 
to the joy of the resurrection and the peace that comes from Jesus Christ.
This song was inspired by a visit to Assisi in Italy, home of St Francis. 
Sitting in a quiet chapel, seeing the silhouette of a crucifix 
in front of an illuminated golden tabernacle, 
 the words "Beyond the Cross" came to mind. 
On reflection, whatever crosses 
we have to put up with in life, 
 if we can look beyond them, 
God is always there for us, 
a source of everlasting peace.
