Ecumenical Music Page

Some Christian musicians share an ecumenical vision.

Since 1996 Teresa Brown has directed music at events which encourage Christians from different churches to celebrate their faith together.

In the Millennium year Teresa animated the singing of 10,000 people at Pentecost 2000 celebrations in a park in Northampton, England, forming an ecumenical choir and orchestra for the occasion with the help of the newly formed Northamptonshire Ecumenical Music Network. Teresa then spent 3 months in Israel doing voluntary work in Jerusalem and gathering material for her next recording project, In Search of Peace. During that time she visited Egypt and led music for Mass at the top of Mount Sinai, in a Bedouin tent and on the shores of the Red Sea.

Since 2001 Teresa Brown has worked as a freelance Christian musician in a variety of places, using her own compositions as well as contemporary music and resources from Taize and the Iona Community.

Teresa has directed music for retreats in England and Ireland, and led workshops around the country on parish missions with the Sion Catholic Community for Evangelism. Her contact with the RSCM has also led her to perform and lead workshops for other organisations including the Methodist Church Music Society and the Maranatha Community.

Since the release of In Search of Peace, Teresa continues to play her own violin music with backing tracks to a variety of audiences, including the Edinburgh Fringe in 2003, the
annual New Dawn Conference at Walsingham,
and the Oundle Christian Festival in 2007.
